National Competition DriverThis trophy is awarded to the outstanding nationally licensed competition driver. Originally referred to as the "Tony Andersen Trophy" this award was first given to Gene Smiley, who drove an Osca. The trophy has seen several multiple year winners, and one outstanding NRSCCA driver, Jack Beck, who was inducted into the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame in 2006, was voted this trophy by his peers in four consecutive decades. This trophy, and the George Gunther Memorial, are awarded annually based on the votes of a selection committee. The selection committee consists of the last three winners* of the national trophy, last three winners* of the George Gunther Memorial Trophy, and a race worker appointed by the Regional Executive. *The last three individuals who won the award. |
