- originally the Governor's Cup
The Workers Cup recognizes the outstanding worker at Regional events during the past year. It is not necessarily presented each year.
How the trophy is awarded: Recipients are determined by a vote of the Region's Board of Governors, however, Nebraska Region members are allowed to submit nominations.
Generally speaking, Region officers are not considered for this award for doing the job they were elected to do. All rules have exceptions. If an officer goes so far beyond his/her job description that they are deemed worthy of recognition by the Board, the Workers Cup can be awarded to that individual.
About the Trophy (Governor's Cup): Gifted to Nebraska Region in 1973 by then Area Governor, Mel Bogus, this award started out as the Governor's Cup. It was presented by the Area Governor upon the recommendation of the Region's Board of Governors to the Nebraska Region member that had done the most to promote racing in the Midwest Division. The next Area Governor declined to continue the tradition, so the trophy was put to new use.
